I Have A Deeper Insight Into My Behaviors - 868 Words

For the past week, I have reflected on how I think, feel and act, and in doing so, i have developed deeper insight into my behaviors. I thought about how I could have done things differently or better after the fact. I came to realize that I let my emotions get in the way of my thought process. I believe that people are creatures of habit and their environment. As a child, I became a product of my surroundings. For instance, because I was brought up not having too much I learned to take pride in all of my achievements and that holds true today. I was raised with morals, norms and values which impacted the way I handle situations. I’ve always aimed to strive for perfection in an effort to make those individuals around me proud. When I was younger, I always found it hard to express myself, I would always shy away from positive peer/social interactions. I was ridiculed by peers as a result, I often turned to my older siblings to fight majority of my battles. Growing up, a factor that seemed to motivate or drive my decisions and behaviors would be self-determination, actualization and incentives. I think I feel and act the way I do because of how I was treated as an adolescent. I have learned to distinguish the difference between needs and wants. For example having a roof over my head, food, and good health were my needs. Items such as having fancy cars, fancy clothes, or living in luxury were my wants. Over the course of the week, I’ve learned to manage my behaviorsShow MoreRelatedEssay about Jarhead: An Instrumental Film in American War Culture 1134 Words   |  5 Pagescharacters in the film, the audience is able to gain insight into the corruption and lies that are â€Å"war†. What You Should Never Say - Argument Don ´ Ts Essay

What You Should Never Say - Argument Don ´ts By William Hart Dec 10, 2011 I can t believe I just said that! Everyone who is human has made that statement more times than they care to admit. Nothing tastes as bad as a foot in the mouth. All too often, hot emotions or the fury of the moment leads us to say things that aren t true except that they hurt. The sad thing is, this happens most often with those to whom we are closest. And invariably, after we blurt out hurtful words, a small border skirmish that could have been easily resolved threatens to turn into the next world war. Every couple has seen this happen more than once. If you haven t seen a couple argue, you may think that the partners don t care enough to raise any disputes, or they have a really strange relationship. Hopefully, this is just due to the fact that the partners respect each other enough, and have enough class, not to argue in public. You can be sure there are storms in the relationship. After all, two people operating in close proximity are bound to have some abrasions from constantly rubbing elbows. Given that they are, after all, individuals raised in different ways and products of different environments, they can be likened to two continental tectonic plates rubbing against each other - and that creates earthquake and volcano zones. The thing about arguments is that they can be useful. They allow venting, expression of hurt feelings, and can show a way to settle differences.
